Since the turn of the 20th century, skiing’s distinctive outerwear designs have consistently adopted influence from high street fashion. On the mountain during the 40s and 50s, unique separates (jacket and pant) replaced the one-piece in an effort to provide skiers with enhanced choices of fit, style, color, and material. “Tailor-mades,” the first alpine sportswear pieces created with couture-specific standards for female skiers were beautifully crafted in terms of their patterns, fabrications, and attention to technology.
