Royal families have been making annual ski trips since mountain resorts became commercially viable. Much like hunting and tennis, skiing's dignified character provided a sporting outlet suitable for the royal image, and its relatively exclusive nature contributed to its glamorous image. Nobility, royalty, and celebrities sought to retain the same elegant, striking clothing on the slopes, especially amidst the expansion of photography as a medium. However, skiing required these upscale garments to incorporate a degree of functionality. The resulting products incorporated the best fabrics available, while the designs took inspiration from mens suiting with a feminine twist. The Alps & Meters Monarch Jacket projects the same class and style on the slopes as they do in town. Drawing inspiration from ski attire worn by the likes of Grace Kelly and Princess Alexandra of Greece, the Monarch Jacket creates an air of nostalgia without compromising on performance.
