Perhaps the most traditional piece of sport equipment ever created, the Polo shirt has been a staple of the Gentleman Skier’s wardrobe since the late 1800’s where its presence migrated to the mountains from the posh courts of exclusive tennis clubs and the green grass of private polo grounds. A new luxury sportswear essential, Alps & Meters’ Touring Polo draws upon the original innovative intentions of the original polos of the past while offering a unique set of evergreen Forged Performance features and benefits for the sportsman on tour year-round.

Devised by the well-to-do sportsmen of the 19th and 20th centuries as an alternative to the cumbersome and reserved casual wardrobes worn in early recreational environments of the era, the Polo Shirt, as it came be called, offered users the first series of garment innovations dedicated solely to sports related activities. Short sleeve length and softer jersey knits of pique cotton delivered enhanced comfort while the refinement of its signature classic collar, when upturned, protected the neck from the sun while still adhering to norms of upper crust dress code required of the gentlemen of the day.

I love this design and material that they used. It is soft and comfortable, but rugged enough for spring days on the mountain, but you can throw a casual blazer over it or pair it with wool slacks and it looks completely dressed up.
