COMPLETE THE LOOK

The Story

During the early 19th century Nordic skiers traveled from village to village over snow, across varying elevations, and through alternating climates in a round trip excursion carrying goods for trade. Lasting as long as one week, these excursions required garments with the ability to protect against the precipitation found in valley floors and flakes of snow falling on the mountain.

In the midst of shifting seasons, touring mountaineers and travelers have relied on the sleeveless comfort of a well crafted vest. Simple in design but offering an array of spring ski excursion benefits, the Alps & Meters Touring Vest offers an optimal combination of packability, water/snow repellency, and lightweight insulation ideal for travel to and through mountainous terrain. With a unique side split entry and front pocket storage pouch modeled on alpinist equipment of the 1940s, the Touring Vest provides ample storage packaged in a classic design.

Designed by Tradition

In the midst of shifting seasons and adventures ranging from the Northern to the Southern Hemisphere, in places as distant as the Rockies, the Alps, and the Andes, Spring touring mountaineers and travelers have relied on the sleeveless comfort of a well crafted vest.

Touring vest

The touring vest is a great addition to my field wardrobe. I really like the anorak style, with the versatility of a vest. The waxed outer material has a great feel and slightly weathered look. The inside material is superior quality, thus making the garment comfortable and breathable. The large pocket allows for great utilization of maps and field books, while still providing additional smaller pockets inside the larger one to organize items. The side pockets have zips to allow item stowage without fear of loss. The side and neck zip allow for ease of entry as well as additional venting options if needed.

I am 6’2” and slender with a 40” chest and I got a large. It fits great, allowing the option of thick or thin layers beneath making it a true 3 season option. The adjustable neck also allows for the use of a hooded garment beneath the vest.

Looking forward to utilizing this in the field for many years and hope to get at least one more in another color! I am so glad I found this piece.

sturdy timeless design

I love this design. I wear it over the patrol sweater and it is perfect for spring days skiing or hiking in cooler temps. I also wear it to work when I know I will be out in the field a lot that day. It has slim athletic design. I am 5'4 with broad shoulders so the large is perfect on me and does not look baggy. So if you are normally a medium go up a size.
